Janet Cheung

Janet grew up in Hong Kong and Singapore and has a keen interest and appreciation of different cultures, bringing a sensitive, culturally-informed approach to her therapeutic work. Having been in education for over 10 years, she has experience working with preteens, young people, parents and adults. Janet believes that people want to become the best version of themselves, and her passion is helping clients facilitate this through counselling and walking with her clients through any issues that they may face.

Janet works in a person-centred manner, meeting clients where they are at and encouraging meaningful change by helping clients understand themselves better, bringing forth their natural strengths and internal resources. Informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, among other modalities, Janet adapts her therapeutic work to suit each individual. Janet is an empathetic, non-judgemental and collaborative counsellor who aims to provide a safe, respectful and therapeutic space for her clients to work within.

Janet provides counselling in English, Mandarin and Cantonese and is currently undertaking Gottman Method Couples Therapy training.

Cecilia Yu Yi-Ju

Cecilia Yu Yi-Ju

Cecilia is originally from Taiwan and completed her undergraduate degree in the United States. After working in California, she moved to Hong Kong in 2003. She is now the mother of two children, one of whom has learning difficulties. Partly because of this, Cecilia has developed an interest in child development and counselling. Cecilia has experience working with children with learning difficulties and behavioural needs. She believes children or adults should have a place where they can feel safe to work through the difficulties in their lives. Cecilia’s goal is to help children reach their maximum potential and to help families move towards healthier relationships. Cecilia is passionate about providing psychological support for diverse individuals and groups to rebalance their lives towards healthy change. This will involve exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and taking action to achieve positive outcomes.

Having had the privilege of growing young minds as an educator for over 20 years, I passionately believe that wellbeing is the foundation of learning and achieving your full potential. Applying Lea Waters visible wellbeing principles of strengths-based strategies in the classroom in addition to supporting students and their parents with a variety of learning differences, stress, anxiety, depression and other issues have given me experience on which to base my counselling practice.

I bring my values of kindness, gratitude, acceptance and authenticity to our relationship to build a working alliance with you based on trust, respect and collaboration. Approaches are drawn from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based therapies to help you address the root causes of your problems, find solutions to achieve your goals and live your best life.

Liz Case

Liz Case

After graduating in the 1980s, in 1990 Liz left the UK for Hong Kong, hoping for a career start and new adventure. Thirty years later, having worked on the radio, and producing three children, Liz is happy to be back in Hong Kong after seven years living in Indonesia and India.

Liz also returns with a new understanding of mental health issues and life challenges, and a determination to proactively and constructively help clients feel they do not have to cope alone; that there are positive and beneficial steps that can be taken together to improve mental wellbeing. Liz is committed to this new career path in counselling and brings a deep enthusiasm as well as a rich and varied life experience to assist her clients on their journey to wellbeing.

Liz has a developing interest in couple and family therapy, as well as helping individuals.

Nicole Gatehouse

Nicole Gatehouse

Master of Counselling Student, Monash University, Hong Kong

 

Nicole has been working in the wellness industry for over 15 years. She has been based in Asia for most of her adult life studying Chinese in Shanghai and Iyengar Yoga, Ayurvedic Medicine, Massage and Yoga Therapy in India. Nicole employs these qualifications and knowledge to supplement her understanding of the connection between body, mind and health.

In Hong Kong Nicole has established an Iyengar Yoga business. She teaches all age groups from teenagers in local schools to private and group sessions for all age groups. She has also studied and researched nutrition, biomechanics and the effect our lifestyle has on our wellbeing.

As a mother, Nicole has developed a deeper sense of self-awareness and further developed an interest in education and child development.

The Master of Counselling qualification will round off Nicole’s professional training by formalising her extensive psychological and physiological background with a university qualification from one of the world’s top 50 universities, Monash University.

Nicole has enjoyed helping people to lead more comfortable, flexible and healthy lives through her Yoga teaching. With the addition of Counselling, she looks forward to helping even more people, off the mat as much as on it, to live a life with clarity, self-awareness and compassion.

Rachel Juriansz

Rachel Juriansz

Rachel has had 20 years clinical experience in the health profession as a registered nurse, nurse administrator and an injury rehabilitation consultant in Australia. Since moving to Hong Kong with her husband and two sons, she has volunteered extensively, and now furthers her health skills through a master’s degree in counselling.

Rachel believes, people want to feel well, safe, joyful, peaceful, connected, and function meaningfully: they want to live their lives to the fullest. However, we can become lost, stuck, damaged, grieved or disconnected by events and life experiences. Sometimes negative thoughts and behaviours disrupt our lives.

Rachel truly believes counselling offers a scientifically tested path towards re-discovering positive life-giving feelings, behaviours and functions; she is deeply committed to guiding people along this path towards finding their own solutions, their own way.

Rachel guides and supports those who courageously seek assistance. She believes a genuine, confidential, and respectful connection with people is the basis for all helping. Rachel works together with her clients to identify their strengths to deal with troubling issues. Jointly, they solve problems and find solutions. She uses established problem-solving strategies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy amongst others.

Rachel has worked with primary aged children, adults and refugees. She addresses a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, negative thoughts, hopelessness, relationship stress, insomnia, grief, and conflict. Rachel looks forward to safely steering clients towards wellness and a fulfilling life.
